Cory Pinegar, Founder & CEO, on why Teem exists and where it’s going.
In December of 2016, the co-founders of Weave offered to sell me a small department of their company for one dollar. My father, who I love and respect more than anyone, told me it was the dumbest idea he’d ever heard.
He wasn’t entirely wrong to be skeptical.
For years we grew it the old-fashioned way: hiring locally, training hard, trying to hold a team together in an industry where turnover never stops. Then Covid hit and everything broke at once. We were hiring 15 to 25 people a month just to maintain the same headcount. Something had to change.
Someone suggested hiring from Latin America. I was the loudest voice against it. I’d had too many frustrating experiences with outsourced call centers, thick accents, scripts, people who couldn’t actually help. I’d written off the whole idea.
We hired two people anyway. Begrudgingly.
Those two hires changed it all.
The problem was never international talent. The problem was how most companies approached it, as a cost play, not a quality play.
That realization became Teem.
There are brilliant professionals across Latin America and the Philippines who deserve careers worthy of their skills. There are healthcare practices across the US that need people who show up like they own the outcome. Our job is to connect both, carefully, and for the long term.

Assumptions are expensive in this business. Whether it’s a practice navigating a new hire or a member working across time zones, clarity is always the right call. We over-communicate on purpose.

A proactive approach is the only approach. We see what’s coming, we move toward it, and we bring solutions before problems become visible. That’s true for our team and the members we place.
